Environmental Sustainability Policy
Starting from scratch, AMAZING has gradually figured out the responsibilities that a company should take on environmental issues after several years of learning and improvement. By calculating our current carbon footprint and setting targets for every year, we’re improving in emission reduction. By reviewing past performance, the current situation, and the targets to be achieved in the future and using carbon emissions as the basis for calculation, we have set the net-zero goal in the first stage by 2030.
In essence, AMAZING is an IC design company that relies on the partnerships in manufacturing process during wafer fabrication and product packaging & testing to produce finished products. For the carbon emissions in production, we will adopt impactful approaches and data to show the joint efforts with our partners in environmental responsibilities to achieve carbon neutrality for reducing carbon emissions.
Within the company, we will use controllable items and carbon emission data to improve every year towards net zero. Our internal inspection items mainly focus on the products and their related process, the company’s internal operations, and direct waste.
In terms of products, we work towards low energy consumption and low loss with the indicator of “first time right,” trying to reduce avoidable waste as much as possible. As a product-related process, it covers the direct and indirect use of materials and operations during product packaging, transportation, and inventory management.
Regarding operations, we strive for operations be easy, simple, and safe. Repetitive tries and the most advanced tools available enable the company to operate smoothly. Embedding mistake-proofing concepts may also reduce human errors and increase communication effectiveness.
For direct waste, we avoid single-use materials by increasing reusable and permanent writing supplies.
As for the items not on the list, we will work towards cooperation and transactions with land-friendly manufacturers. With a positive attitude and responsible pricing, we encourage land-friendly and eco-friendly activities.
Office Energy-saving and Carbon Reduction: Short, Medium, and Long-term Plans
As an IC design company, AMAZING is dedicated to ESD protection design for integrated circuits, and the manufacturing process is outsourced to professional foundries. Since there are mainly offices in our workplace instead of manufacturing facilities, the energy consumption within the office building typically comes from air conditioning, computer devices, lighting, and the operation of various office equipment. Although we don’t have industrial energy use, we still develop short-term, medium-term. and long-term plans for energy-saving and carbon reduction, listing in detail the relevant energy-saving and carbon-reducing measures to perform in the short, medium, and long term. We create different energy efficiency solutions and performance targets for various office devices and related equipment. By planning a reasonable energy-saving pathway that aligns with our industry sector and meets AMAZING energy management policies, goals, and visions, we try to create an eco-friendly green workplace.

Energy Management
As a professional IC design company in Taiwan, AMAZING is fully aware of the potential risks arising from climate change. Therefore, reducing energy consumption has always been a topic that we keep working on while considering how to continue increasing the supply of green energy in the future. We are committed to improving energy efficiency in daily operations and we refer to the backbone of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems for our annual management policy and compliance standards for various energy-saving and carbon-reducing measures. By fulfilling the above-mentioned environmental management system and verification standards as one of the future goals, we expect to achieve more effective energy management.

Reducing Energy and Resource Consumption
In addition to a comprehensive promotion of energy-saving activities, AMAZING has actively implemented various energy-efficient actions and solutions in recent years to encourage our staff to introduce energy-saving concepts into the manufacturing process and their daily life. In 2022, AMAZING’s electricity usage and consumption per capita decreased by 1% and 4%, respectively, compared with 2021. We will persist in promoting various energy-saving measures to accomplish the medium and long-term goals of reducing both energy intensity and electricity consumption per capita by 2% yearly. The following are the energy-saving & carbon-reducing actions and practices in AMAZING:
- Temperature control of air conditioning: Air conditioning temperature setting and time control.
- Energy efficiency control: Convert to motion-sensing lighting in rarely used rooms. Turn off lights during lunch breaks to save energy.
- Energy efficient lighting: Gradually upgrade every fluorescent lighting fixture to LED.
- Build an electronic system to reduce paper usage and fully adopt e-invoicing.
- Replace air conditioners with inverter AC in certain computer rooms to save more energy.
- Establish a monthly unified purchase procedure for office supplies requests to reduce packaging materials and the number of deliveries.
- Use a timer switch to turn off the lights in the laboratory at a specific time (8 p.m.) to save energy.
Waste Reduction, Recycling and Reuse
To realize the waste reduction goal, AMAZING is carring out relevant reduction projects and actions. Taking the reduction of paper usage as an example, the e-form & e-workflow system developed by the IT Department not only significantly reduces the processing time of document submission and approval in recent years, significantly improving the operating efficiency in each department, but also dramatically lowers paper usage, reducing a large amount of carbon dioxide emissions from pulp production. From 2019 to the end of 2022, our annual paper usage had notably declined from 120,000 sheets to 67,000 sheets, with a reduction rate up to 44%. In the future, AMAZING will further move towards a paperless office.

In addition to persisting in source reduction and office waste recycling and reuse, we also bring the entire supply chain together to lower raw material usage and reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing along with innovative environmental technology projects to accomplish the circular economy concept. As of today, AMAZING has not been imposed any fines for major environmental violations. The following are AMAZING waste reduction, recycling, and reuse actions and practices:
- Set up recycling bins for correct sorting.
- Electronic waste such as ICs, wafers, and PCBs should be handled by a professional e-waste removal company to lower environmental impact.
- Encourage employees to adopt reusable dinnerware and utensils to reduce the waste generated by disposables.
- Implement food scrap recycling to help resolve environmental pollution issues through recycling and composting.
- Underline the importance of proper waste disposal and environmental protection during new employee training.
Green Purchasing
AMAZING embraces corporate growth and ecological coexistence & co-prosperity. Through the green purchasing system, we support the use of low-energy-consuming, non-toxic, and recyclable office devices with ecolabels, including LED lighting fixtures and electrical appliances with Taiwan Level-1 Energy Label, etc.
- Purchase office supplies and electrical devices with the Green Mark.
- Increase the proportion of LED lamps in office lighting every year. The use of LED lighting in the office is expected to reach over 90% in 2023.
Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory
To fulfill its responsibilities as a global citizen, AMAZING discloses its GHG emission information even though the GHG inventory standard ISO 14064-1 has yet to be introduced in the company. We used 2019 as the base year for our GHG emission calculations. The GHG emission intensity is also calculated and divided by “revenue” as the denominator for the metric of intensity ratio.
As a professional IC design company, AMAZING engages in product design, research & development, and sales. The production and manufacturing of products are carried out by qualified OEMs. Therefore, the energy needs within our office typically include air conditioning, lighting, and the operation of various equipment. Most energy consumed in the office is electricity, compared with other energy sources. Since all the electricity sources are purchased from Taipower, we only perform a self-assessment and calculation of Scope 2 emission.
In 2022, our GHG emission (Scope 2) increased by 10.7% compared with 2019 levels (the base year) due to a 25% increase in the number of employees compared with the base year.
